Nguyễn Ngọc Linh once worked as a tattoo artist in Hanoi before moving to France in 2015 to study fine arts at the University of Strasbourg. By chance, in a secondhand bookshop, he came across Anatomie Artistique - a foundational nineteenth-century treatise on human morphology for visual artists. This book opened the door to a lasting passion for Linh. He went on to spend three years conducting direct, in-depth research into human anatomy at the Strasbourg Institute of Anatomy. This experience became a turning point in his creative practice. Rather than studying drawing theory passively, he chose a rigorous path: transcribing classical anatomical references, observing medical practice firsthand while working directly with human cadavers and bones, and then distilling his own formulas and tools for drawing the human figure accurately, whatever its form or action.

His work revolves around the human anatomy, reflecting unconscious imaginings of life and a personal preoccupation with the identity and presence of living beings.

Since 2019, Linh has founded “Giải phẫu học nghệ thuật” (Artistic Anatomy), where he teaches short but intensive courses on the discipline.
